6 weeks

Can you believe it has already been 6 weeks since this little guy joined our family? He has been an absolute joy! And we are so lucky to have him.

He is quite the entertaining sleeper. One day when I got out of the shower this is how I found him in his pack 'n play.

On his 2 week birthday I couldn't take it anymore... He had a mullet growing and his hair was growing in his ear and his bangs were starting to curl. So after his bath... I cut it.

Since he was born he has had many exciting adventures...

Sorry... I could have sworn that I had one of them together. I guess I need to make sure we get one the next time she comes to visit!

Going to the hospital:

Last week Jonathan had a fever that was over 100 degrees for about 3 days. We thought it could be a reaction to his shot he had recently gotten, but the fever didn't really die down. I took him to the doctor last Monday and she informed me that in babies under 2 months you need to take them straight to the ER because that kind of fever means an infection of some kind and since babies can't tell you where it hurts, they have to test for it. This was an awful experience! I asked BJ to go with me to the hospital as it was a Monday and Rudy had to work and BJ has almost all Mondays off. He was a HUGE help! We went to the hospital by his house and there they informed me that they didn't have a pediatric unit, but he would need to be admitted. They would run the majority of the tests there, but then would need to transfer him to another hospital that has a pediatric ward. Some of the tests they did included giving him a catheter, drawing blood, and doing a spinal tap. The spinal tap was the hardest. BJ had to use himself as a shield so I couldn't see what they were doing. Every time Jonathan would cry or make a sound I would go into a large crying fit. I think this was worse than when he got his circumcision. We ended up staying 3 days in the hospital waiting for all of the cultures to come back. The only thing they found was an elevated white blood cell count in his urine, but the culture grew nothing so they decided it was a virus. It was torture watching them poke and prod my little man.

I was so happy when they finally said we could go home. I think Jonathan was too!
He is feeling and doing great now! He's back to his normal self and is gaining weight like no other. Even with a 3 day stay in the hospital he managed to gain weight. When he was born he weighed 7 lbs 12 oz... now 6 weeks later he weighs 11 lbs 3 oz.

And special thanks again to BJ for taking our family photo!

JunioR G has arrived!

Monday afternoon, I went to my regular doctor visit before my doctor left for a weeks vacation. At the appointment, the doctor informed me I was 3 cm dilated, had high blood pressure, and since I was 40 weeks he would just prefer to schedule me to have the baby that night.

We checked in about 8, and headed to our room. Not quite as nice as a hotel, but not bad.

This is where I spent the next 12 hours. After being hooked up to the monitors, we found out I was rapidly contracting, so they couldn't start the pitocin. About 11 they decided to break my water and 9 hours later he was born - on his scheduled due date.

Wedding in Utah

This weekend we went to Utah for a wedding. Two of the members from the Chicago 5th ward got married and we were invited to the festivities. Carol was a huge help on the mission and I was so grateful that she decided to get married in the Salt Lake Temple so I could be there. She looked gorgeous!

Randi came up to Salt Lake with us and dropped us off at the temple. We felt bad when we got to the temple and the temple assistant informed us that the wedding wasn’t for about another hour. I thought I had read the announcement correctly, but apparently they had taken care of the 30 minutes early for us when they printed the announcements. I assumed we needed to be there early as the ceremony would begin at the time indicated on the announcement. So we decided we would come back in about a half hour and wait at that point. We called Randi to let her know of my mess-up and she decided since it was a nice day she’d come back and wait for us to finish and would read a book at the tables outside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. She was a little tired when we got done with the ceremony, but good thing she was able to spring back to her normal chipper self in just a few minutes.

These are some pictures of us outside the temple that Randi took. She was trying to highlight my belly.

After the pictures we walked over to the South Visitor’s Center and checked out the small replica of the Salt Lake Temple they have. It was awesome! They built it and then cut it open so you could see what the rooms looked like. I thought the assembly hall was especially cool as I had never seen it before.
Then we headed over to my Aunt LaWayne’s to drop Randi off and hang out with her for a little bit before we needed to be back at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for dinner. Dinner was great and we had fun at the reception. Thanks for getting married Carol!

After the reception we went back to my aunt’s to wait for my mom to arrive. She came bearing gifts of Easter! (Thanks for not making us wait to open them.) Around 11:30 we decided it was time to head back to Randi’s.

The next day we got to hang out with my mom and my aunt, Mara, and Sammy too! Mara came with the girls to Hobby Lobby where I got to pick out fabric for some projects Randi is doing for me. I’m not sure she enjoyed her 2 hours in Hobby Lobby, but we enjoyed having her along.

Rudy and Sammy went shooting with Cass. It seemed like they had a lot of fun until they ran out of skeet and the rifle broke. Thanks for taking them to do manly things Cass! (Sorry no pictures from them because I had the camera at Hobby Lobby). After we were all back at Randi’s my mom had to head for home and took my aunt to Salt Lake. Thanks for coming to see us!!

We were supposed to go back to Salt Lake that night for another reception, Carol’s little sister, but we decided to kick it with Mara, Sammy, and David. Before we headed over to the Bolingbroke's we stopped at Smith's for some soda, cake, and gas. I love how they've changed the rewards system so we were able to get $.70 off a gallon!! We finally paid under $3.o0!

We played a nice game of Apples to Apples and then some Wii. Sammy and Rudy sure had fun!

The next day we went to church with Randi and Cassidy, had some tasty dinner,

and then headed for the warmth of Vegas! We knew BJ was missing us terribly and didn’t want him to start crying so we called it a weekend.
